Lightning Baseball is a competitive youth baseball program based in Port Orange, FL. The program was started in June 2016 by Steve Strickland and Steve Lombardi. From the beginning, our purpose was to build the best baseball program in Volusia County. We don’t simply measure “best” by wins on the field, but also how the program is operated off the field. Our goal is world class in everything we do in our program. While it would’ve been much easier for us to simply insert ourselves into existing local baseball organizations, we wanted much more for our kids and Port Orange community.
OUR LOCAL ROOTS RUN DEEP
Our club President, Steve Strickland, played his entire youth and high school baseball in the greater Daytona Beach area. Steve played his t-ball in South Daytona, kid pitch in Port Orange, travel/competitive with Daytona Beach Baseball, and high school at Spruce Creek. This theme holds true for virtually every member of the Lightning Baseball coaching staff, including our specialty coaches with professional baseball backgrounds. As a staff, we are driven to build the model competitive baseball program that our Port Orange community can be proud of and rally around.
OUR PROGRAM PHILOSOPHIES
- Competitive/Travel programs are world class experiences for all involved
- Youth coaching is driven from a standpoint of positivity
- Focus is on the long-term development of the kids
- We represent the City of Port Orange and entire local area, not just our baseball club
